The FEBI BILSTEIN 21746 is part of the accessory drive that runs the alternator, A/C compressor and other components. The tensioner keeps the drive belt at the right tension and idler pulleys guide it, and their bearings wear over time.

It applies constant pressure to the drive belt so it grips the pulleys without slipping, and it absorbs the belt's movement as engine speed changes. Idler pulleys guide the belt around its path.
