Posi Quiet brake pads are manufactured using the same positive molding process utilized by Original Equipment suppliers. Positive molding uses extreme pressure to compress the friction material and bond it to the backing plate. This process assures consistent friction material density throughout the pad; resulting in even wear and performance characteristics throughout the life of the brake pad. The number one cause for customer returns are noise and vibration. Centric Parts has recognized these issues and is constantly improving its products to eliminate these issues. Posi Quiet brake friction features either precision cut or shaved backing plates and mechanically attached shims; these small details ensure proper fitment in the caliper and virtually eliminate noise associated with pad vibration. In addition to these features Centric Parts has added a scorching process to all of its Posi Quiet brake pads. This additional process forces any impurities out of the friction material and pre-burnishes the pads to greatly accelerate the break-in process. All Posi Quiet brake pad friction formulations are asbestos free and are available in three application specific compounds complete with all necessary hardware for installation where applicable.

The STOPTECH STO105.17600 brake pads are the friction material that presses against the brake rotors to stop the car. Pad compound affects stopping power, pedal feel, noise and brake dust, and pads are always replaced as a set for both wheels on an axle.

Frequently asked questions

What are the signs that my brake pads are worn?

A brake-pad warning light, a squeal or grinding noise when braking, longer stopping distances, or less than about 3 mm of pad material visible through the wheel. Grinding usually means the backing plate is touching the rotor and needs immediate attention.

Do I need new rotors with new pads?

Check the rotors' thickness against the minimum stamped on them and look for grooves or vibration. Rotors that are worn, scored or below minimum thickness should be replaced with the pads so the new pads bed in on a fresh surface.

Do I need a new pad wear sensor?

On many European cars, yes. The sensor is designed to be worn through by the pad; once the warning has come on, or if the sensor was damaged during removal, it has to be replaced.

How do I break in new brake pads?

Follow the pad maker's bedding procedure, usually several moderate stops from speed without coming to a complete stop, then letting the brakes cool. Avoid hard stops for the first few hundred miles.
