About this Brake Caliper

The WILWOOD WIL120-13436-BK brake caliper squeezes the brake pads against the rotor when you press the pedal. Sticking pistons or seized slide pins make the brakes drag or pull and wear pads unevenly.

Frequently asked questions

What does a brake caliper do?

Hydraulic pressure from the brake pedal pushes the caliper's pistons outward, pressing the pads against the rotor to slow the wheel.

What are the signs of a failing caliper?

The car pulling to one side when braking, a hot wheel or burning smell after driving, uneven pad wear, a fluid leak at the caliper, or a spongy pedal.

Should calipers be replaced in pairs?

Replacing both calipers on the same axle keeps braking even and is recommended, especially when one has seized. Replace the pads, and the rotors if needed, at the same time.

What needs to be done after installing a caliper?

Bleed the brake system to remove air, using the brake fluid type your car specifies, and check for leaks. If you are not experienced with brake work, have a professional do it, as brakes are safety-critical.

How do I make sure this brake caliper fits my car?

Compare the part numbers listed on this page with the number on your old part or in your vehicle's parts catalog, and check the fitment information. If you are unsure, contact us with your VIN before ordering.
