About this Strut & Shock Mount

The SACHS 802 532 mount attaches the top of the strut or shock absorber to the car's body, cushioning suspension movement. Front strut mounts often include a bearing that lets the strut turn with the steering.

What does a strut or shock mount do?

It connects the damper to the body while isolating noise and vibration. On front struts, the mount bearing allows the strut and spring to rotate as you steer.

What are the signs of a worn strut mount?

A clunk or knock over bumps, a creak or binding feeling when turning the steering, vague handling, or visible cracks and separation in the rubber.

Should I replace the mounts with the struts?

It is recommended. The strut has to be disassembled to replace the mount anyway, and fitting new mounts with new struts avoids repeating the labor and alignment later.

Can I replace strut mounts myself?

Replacing a strut mount means compressing the coil spring, which requires a proper spring compressor and can cause serious injury if done incorrectly. Have an alignment done afterwards.
