Grinding or whirring noises are signs that this part is close to failure. It’s located on the front of the engine between the intermediate shaft pulley and the A/C compressor pulley. While replacing this component, check all of your rollers for wear. If the rollers feel like they are grinding or are difficult to turn, replace them immediately.
