The distributor cap is a perfect example of an essential piece that will eventually succumb to the constant heat and vibration present in your engine bay. Luckily, this part is relatively easy to replace. If it has cracked, a good seal will not be provided and moisture and other contaminants will be allowed to interrupt the sparking process. This part can also become caked with carbon deposits that may lead to erosion of the metal terminals.
