About this Control Arm

The DELPHI TC2455 control arm links the wheel hub to the car's body or subframe, holding the wheel in position while letting the suspension move. Its bushings and ball joint wear over time, which affects steering precision, tire wear and noise.

What does a control arm do?

It locates the wheel and controls its movement as the suspension travels, keeping alignment angles consistent. Bushings at the body end and a ball joint at the wheel end allow that movement while absorbing vibration.

What are the signs of a worn control arm?

Clunking over bumps, vague or wandering steering, vibration through the steering wheel, uneven tire wear, cracked or torn bushings, or play in the ball joint.

Should I replace control arms in pairs?

Replacing both sides of the same axle keeps handling balanced, and when one side is worn the other is often close behind. Many owners replace related arms and bushings at the same time.

Is anything special needed during installation?

Tighten the bushing bolts with the car at normal ride height, not with the suspension hanging, or the bushings will be pre-loaded and wear early. Use new bolts or nuts where the manufacturer specifies it, and have an alignment done afterwards.
