About this Spark Plug

The BOSCH 7405 spark plug ignites the air and fuel in each cylinder. Worn plugs make the ignition system work harder and can cause misfires, rough running and higher fuel consumption.

How often should I replace spark plugs?

Follow the interval in your car's maintenance schedule. Turbocharged engines and tuned engines often need plugs replaced sooner than naturally aspirated ones.

What are the signs of worn spark plugs?

Misfires or a check-engine light, rough idle, hesitation under acceleration, harder starting, and reduced fuel economy.

Do I need to gap new spark plugs?

Many modern plugs come pre-gapped and some iridium or platinum plugs should not be adjusted. Check the gap against your car's specification and only adjust it carefully if the plug maker allows it.

Can I replace spark plugs myself?

On most engines, yes. Work on a cold engine, blow debris out of the plug wells before removing plugs, thread new plugs in by hand first, and tighten to the specified torque.
