The secondary air injection pump injects fresh air into the exhaust stream to further burn off exhaust gas. When the injection pump begins to fail fault codes will be triggered. The air flow from the pump will be too low to warm the catalytic converter causing the check engine light to come on. By simply replacing this pump fuel efficiency and performance will be restored.
