The guide rails in your timing set keeps everything tracking properly. Because it is made out of a plastic-like material, years of abrasion can wear parts of it away. The chain can get a little loose and cause noise in the chain. Replace your rail before severe engine damage occurs.

This guide rail is use on the main timing chain between the right idle gear and crankshaft.
