The GENUINE PORSCHE 930-332-037-09 axle shaft delivers power from the transmission or differential to the wheel. Constant-velocity (CV) joints at each end let it keep turning smoothly while the suspension moves and the wheels steer.

What does an axle or CV shaft do?

It transmits torque to the wheel while its CV joints allow the angle and length to change as the suspension travels and, on front axles, as the wheels turn.

What are the signs of a failing axle shaft?

A clicking noise when turning, especially under acceleration, a vibration that increases with speed, a clunk when taking off, or grease thrown around the inside of the wheel from a torn CV boot.

Can I just replace the CV boot instead?

If a torn boot is caught early, before dirt and water have damaged the joint, a boot kit can be enough. Once the joint clicks or has lost its grease, replacing the complete axle is usually the better repair.

What should I replace along with the axle?

Use a new axle nut or bolt if the manufacturer specifies a single-use fastener, and a new seal at the transmission if it leaks. Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque with the car on the ground.
