These carrier bearings support the drive shaft, with a bearing and rubber mount. Bearing fail due to mileage resulting in a howling noise, rubber mounts also fail which cause the drive shaft to bounce around.

When disassembling drive shaft make sure to mark each section, as these are balanced as a unit.
