Fog lights, as the name implies, are meant to be used in heavy fog, rain, or snow so the driver can see the edges of the road close to the car. A good fog light produces a wide, bar-shaped beam of light with a sharp horizontal cutoff at the top of the beam, and minimal upward light above the cutoff. Most fog lights come with adjusting screws to aim the beam, and replaceable bulbs.
