The hood lift support is a gas spring located on one or both sides of the vehicle hood. This gas spring eases the lift and supports the weight of the hood in order to gain access to the engine bay. Over time the hood lift supports may lose the ability to support the weight of the hood. In this case replacements should be purchased.
